Last week, inside the grounds of a fire and rescue brigade, a custom Tianyi “Longxishui” fully automatic touchless car wash machine completed installation and commissioning and was formally handed over. It is a wash solution tailored by the brigade to the daily cleaning needs of its special-purpose vehicles.
At the installation site the main body of the machine was already fixed in place, with technicians making the final water and power connections and system checks. Unlike an ordinary car wash machine, this unit was adjusted in cleaning dimensions, water pressure parameters and anti-freeze configuration to suit the special requirements of fire appliances.
The brigade’s logistics officer explained that installation took four days, with specialist technicians from the Tianyi factory on site throughout to ensure quality. “Installation went smoothly and the machine can go into formal use next week.“
Why do fire appliances need touchless cleaning?
As special-purpose operational vehicles, fire appliances are called out frequently and drive in complex conditions. On firefighting and rescue duties they regularly pick up mud, sand, soot and even chemical residue, so cleaning demand is high and standards are strict.
The officer admitted that washing used to be done mainly by hand, with several practical problems: fire appliances are large and structurally complex, so hand washing is time-consuming and heavy; in the cold northern winter, washing outdoors by hand is almost impossible; and, most importantly, many fire appliances use imported chassis, with valuable paintwork and equipment, so even a scratch can be costly to repair.
How does touchless technology protect the paint?
The Tianyi “Longxishui” touchless car wash machine cleans using high-pressure water and a dedicated detergent, with no brush or object touching the body at any point, which rules out scratches and wear by design. High-pressure water jets also reach places that are hard to clean by hand, such as the tight gaps of the equipment lockers and the equipment on the roof.
Custom configuration for special requirements
Taking the special nature of fire appliances into account, the Tianyi factory made several custom changes on top of the standard model: wider and taller cleaning dimensions to suit the wide bodies of fire appliances; optimised jet angles and pressure parameters to cover complex areas such as the equipment lockers; and a complete winter anti-freeze system to keep the machine running in severe cold.
The brigade officer said that once the machine is in use, vehicle cleaning efficiency will rise markedly, freeing firefighters from heavy washing work to focus on duty and training.
